A Joke Is a Joke Until It's NOT

Between 2005 & 2014 - I was way into creating at least what I thought were Very Very Funny and outlandish Burning Man Style April Fool's Web Site Parities. Over those years I premiered 43 +1 web sites - I encourage you to visit 0401fools.net  to see them all and enjoy in my Comedic Eye.  I have been keeping all these domains alive spending Thousands of $$$$ - You might ask WHY?

On every web site I created I added a page that listed ALL OF THE COMMENTS I received after the sites were launched.  The Page is Right THERE and still right now in 2024 I an still getting calls from excited Burners who believe they are in-fact talking to a legitimate company that is providing this particular service @ Burning Man. I love to walk them along the process and some pricing before I tell them I GOT YOU - THE WEB SITE YOU LOOKED AT AND THE CALL YOU ARE ON - IT WAS AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE - I GOT YOU! One that continues to GET Burners was in 2010 I created BRC Storage - YEARS before Burning Man itself created a program Called BRC Storage.

Over the years I have taken a lot of flack for my warped humor mostly fun & jocularity but you never know when you are going to PISS someone OFF or get under someone's skin because the Joke is based on a past event or was funny until it is not.  In 2007 I created a site around a Radio-Electra (Burning Man Theme Camp based in Tucson, AZ) Fundraiser.  In creating the web site using Google I searched for Large Fire and a reference came up to the Station Fire (Great White) in 2003 and I decided to make a reference to that in the fake news of the site.  This was a comment I received.

To whom it may concern,

I don't know if you are responsible for the April Fool's Day "hoax" in which the death of three people, the personal injury of 19 others, and the arrest of another was cited, so I must maintain an objective approach here. I will only say that, if you are this person, please seek psychiatric help. Today. NOW. This person is sick and in immediate need of treatment and confinement, and under no circumstance should have access to a mass communication device of any kind, ever again.

In 2013 I premiered this site - Honoring Larry - A tribute to Larry Harvey, the Founder of Burning Man.  The idea of the site was that we were soliciting funds for upon Larry's passing he would Lie in State @ the Burning Man Headquarters in San Francisco, CA for all Burners to be able to share their respects.  It should be known that I knew Larry; I spent many an hour chatting with him as we both enjoyed our Marlboros.  I loved him as a human and for the vision he had for Black Rock City and the wider Burning Man movement globally.

The site was FUNNY & AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE - well it was FUNNY at least to me until April 28, 2018 when Larry in-fact passed away.  A few days later I received a phone call from Burning Man Headquarters that the site had been seen by those within the organization and there was BUZZ!!  The sentiment around that proverbial table was that now that Larry had passed away that all of the Burning Man Staff & Burners world-wide were in mourning and that the site was inappropriate and should be taken down.  We had a great phone call and discussion in which we discussed Free Speech, Jocularity, Cacophony and of course eticate.  In the end I agreed to take the site down to allow the Burner Culture to heal from the loss of its leader.

I feel that enough time has gone by that I am now making it LIVE again - with the WARNING that you may be Triggered - Remember This was an April Fool's Joke - I still Honor Larry - so Click on the Image Below IF YOU DARE!
